Sony A-Mount Lens Updates

As part of Sony’s plans announced last year, they have announced two new versions of A-mount lenses: the Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70mm f/2.8 and the 16-35mm f/2.8. Both lenses include improvements in image quality, ghost reduction, and auto focus. Photographers will also find a new dust- and moisture-resistant design for the bodies of the lenses themselves. The enhanced autofocus delivers 4x the subject tracking speed than the lens’ predecessors thanks to a better motor system and improved, powerful processing.

The 24-70m f/2.8 II and 16-35mm f/2.8 II will be available for purchase in mid-June for $2,100 and $2,250 respectively.
