Phase One and Cascable announced their partnership allowing the IQ4 platform mobile controls and automation. This will be the first medium format camera that will take advantage of the precision and feature set of the acclaimed Cacable connectivity. The new remote control concentrates on clarity and ease of use, bringing at-a-glance exposure settings and a greatly simplified and refined workflow. For the first time, IQ4 users can control and automate their cameras from their iPhone or iPad wherever they are, and transfer 150 megapixel IIQ RAW images to their devices for preview and management.

Depending on which camera the IQ4 is attached to there is a variation in supported features of the Cascable app.

Do I need to pay to “Upgrade to PRO” in Cascable 6.0?

When you are connected to an IQ4, and after registering the system with Phase One, all Pro features and tools of Cascable 6.0 are available to you at no cost.

Can I shoot tethered via USB-C to my iPad Pro?

At this time, only Network connectivity is supported (WiFi or Ethernet). This will be available in the next release of Cascable along with a Firmware update for the IQ4.

Can I browse images saved on the XQD/SD storage of my IQ4?

At this time, it is not possible to browse images saved on the IQ4’s internal storage. This will be available in the next release of Cascable along with a Firmware update for the IQ4.

What hardware combination provides me the best performance with Cascable 6.0?

The fastest transfer speed of IIQ RAW files and Live View frame rate/resolution, is attained via Ethernet Cabled connection from IQ4 to iPad Pro (via RJ45 to USB-C Dongle).

What is the Zoom Level / Resolution of Live View & RAW Preview in Cascable 6.0?

Live View Zoom Level can go to 100% zoom. However, the quality of that preview will depend on your connection.

What is the quality & resolution of the IIQ RAW when reviewing images?

At this time, only previews of the IIQ RAW file are available when reviewing images. The resolution of this preview will depend on the amount of RAM available on your iOS device. Presently, the 2021 iPad Pro M1, with 16GB of RAM provides the best preview while some iPhone models cannot provide any preview.

Can I access Capture Tools like Frame Averaging?

Frame Averaging and Dual Exposure+ will be available in a future release of Cascable.

How do I control my IQ4 but not transfer RAW files to my iOS Device?

Cascable 6.0 can act as the host for the IQ4 tethering. However, if your device has limited storage space you may wish to turn this feature off. You can do so via the Storage options on the IQ4, turning “Host Storage” to “Disabled” via the Advanced features.
