Who is Leaf Imaging and how are they related to Phase One?

Leaf has been innovating digital camera systems since 1992. Recently (2009) Leaf’s products and industry leading engineers became part of the Phase One family as the wholly owned entity Leaf Imaging. With the financial and logistical support of Phase One the contributions of technology and personal sharing between Leaf Imaging, Phase One, and Mamiya cannot be underestimated.

The warranties, service, and support of all Leaf Imaging and Mamiya products are backed by Phase One.

Can I buy Leaf Imaging and Mamiya products from Capture Integration?

Absolutely. We are a dealer for the entire line of Leaf Imaging and Mamiya products. Moreover we consider ourselves experts with a passion for the products and an absolute commitment to providing the highest possible level of customer service.

What can I use the scroll wheel on the digital back for?

One of the strongest features of a Leaf digital back is the customizable scroll wheel. Depending on your shooting style you may opt to set the scroll wheel to quickly scroll through images, show the histogram, or turn the display off.

Are Mamiya / Leaf digital backs compatible with Capture One?

Following the news that Leaf/Mamiya products would be marketed and developed as a Phase One company many photographers and digital techs were very excited to see if Leaf Imaging products would be compatible with Capture One. Indeed, Capture One 5.0.1 already supports the raw files for all current Leaf Imaging products and Phase One is working hard to provide additional support within Capture One foe Leaf Imaging products.

Are Leaf digital backs compatible with large format view cameras and tech cameras?

All Aptus-II backs are able to be used on a wide variety of view cameras and tech cameras. Facilities are built in to Leaf Capture and Capture One to ensure perfectly neutral images with or without automatic correction for lens vignetting.

What type of firewire cable does the Aptus-II family of backs use?

All Aptus-II models use FW800 cables for the fastest possible data transfer.

Is there really something magical about Leaf’s rendering of skin tone?

Many of our clients select Leaf because they love the look of skin as rendered by the Leaf system. Skin tone is multifaceted and depends on color, lightness, detail, noise, grain, smoothness of gradation, and consistency under mixed lighting conditions. We welcome you to come test this yourself. If you’re interested in skin tone we’d be happy to set up a test shoot for you at our Miami or Atlanta locations.

Can I view captures on the LCD of the digital back while shooting tethered?

Yes. With an Aptus-II the photographer will still see the captures on the LCD of the digital back while shooting tethered (including zooming to 100% to check focus). In addition Leaf Remote Capture can be setup to allow you to review images (including at 100%)

The Leaf Remote Capture software allows you to review your images during a tethered shoot using a wireless iPhone or iPod Touch. This review system includes checking 100% focus, and allows multiple individuals to connect simultaneously and browse the shoot independently. The simple user interface and intuitive design allows even non-techy art directors or assistants to actively participate in the shoot.
