Leica M Battery Recall

 In Leica, News

We would like to inform you that Li-Ion Batteries for the Leica M8, M8.2, M9, M9-P, Monochrom and M-E (catalog number 14464) cameras manufactured at the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016 were supplied with a defective electronic component. This causes the camera to display false information about the charge level of the battery.
With the Leica M8 and M8.2 cameras, the battery symbol in the LCD on the top plate is not displayed at all. In the case of the Leica M9, M9-P and M-E cameras, a false 100% charge is displayed regardless of the actual charge level of the battery.

If you purchased a Li-Ion Battery recently and have noticed either a problem with your Leica M, you should contact Customer Care at 201-962-9930 to receive a replacement battery. Leica Camera will replace the battery free of charge, provided the battery is identified as one manufactured during the mentioned time frame. Based on manufacturing numbers on the Li-Ion Battery, Customer Care will be able to determine if the battery is part of the batch of batteries manufactured at the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016.
