POSTPONED

Explore during the Lake Powell Workshop the majestic Glen Canyon with its yellow-orange-red-ocher sandstone rocks and glide smoothly into narrow tributary canyons on a deck boat. Hike through nature and discover its resurgent beauty with the receding water of Lake Powell and photograph unique images.

Join us October 21 – 25, 2024 for a five day Lake Powell Photography Workshop. This is a unique adventure for photographers with a background in landscape photography or desire to learn it. We will cruise on a 75 ft. long luxury houseboat and take along two deck boats for access to more remote sites. We will also take short day hikes to reach additional photographic opportunities in the high desert of the Colorado Plateau. It will be an opportunity to create wonderful photographs and improve your photographic skills.

You will be able to photograph, depending on the lake’s water level and weather conditions, the Anasazi Canyon, Cathedral Canyon, Confluence Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon, Dominguez Butte, Face Canyon, Gregory Butte, Gunsight Butte and Canyon, Labyrinth Canyon, Last Chance Canyon, Padre Bay with Cookie Jar & Weathering Pit Ridge, Rock Creek Canyon and other sights along the way. We plan this adventure to arrive at the best spots at the best time of the day.

We are offering a unique add-on which will consist of a morning flight on the first workshop day and/or a sunset flight on the last workshop day. The flight duration is about an hour over the Glen Canyon area, including the most famous Reflection Canyon.

Please note this is an additional purchase to the standard registration.

Murray Elliot, a Capture Integration representative and a Phase One representative, will join us for the entire workshop and provide us with Phase One XT cameras and Rodenstock lenses. You will be able to work one-on-one with Phase One experts during these days. This is a unique opportunity to lay your hands on this marvelous digital medium format camera and lenses and photograph the breathtaking landscape. It cannot get better than this!

If you are not interested in a Phase One and you just want to use your own camera gear, regardless of the type of your camera, brand, amount of pixels, etc. you are more than welcome to this workshop!

Strenuous rating: This tour requires good health and physical condition. Be prepared for daily hikes up to 30 minutes duration. These are simple, partly sandy and uneven trails. Some short stretches are downhill or uphill with rocks, but no rock climbing. You need to be able to carry your photography gear backpack and a water bottle. Sturdy shoes and walking sticks might be helpful, but not mandatory.
