Hasselblad Introduces New 28mm XCD F/4 P Lens
Measuring 43.5mm in length and 245g in weight, XCD 4/28P is the lightest and smallest lens of the Hasselblad X System.* This portable and powerful lens allows you to capture the world in the palm of your hand.
The lens carries on the innovative design language of the XCD Series lenses, incorporating a metal body and a focus ring delicately engraved with a Hasselblad “H” pattern, signifying Hasselblad’s ongoing legacy of exquisite craftsmanship.
Capturing a classic concerto of light and shadow begins with the lens. XCD 4/28P adopts an optical structure of nine elements in eight groups, including two aspherical elements and one ED element, which ensures excellent imaging while effectively suppressing chromatic dispersion. With a thoughtfully crafted arrangement, the lens has a compact size and a powerful performance, meeting the resolution requirements of 100 million pixels. The lens yields sharp imaging with high precision and high resolution from the center to the edges, achieving stunning image quality across the frame.
A slightly wider angle enables distinctly bigger scenes. The wide-angle lens with a 22mm equivalent focal length and F4.0 aperture makes capturing nature, street culture, and urban architecture easy. With a 22cm minimum focusing distance and 1:6 magnification, rich close-ups of flowers, cuisine, and much more are effortlessly captured.
FAQ’s
What is a leaf shutter? How does it work? | The leaf shutter is built into the lens structure. Its most significant advantage is that it can achieve flash synchronisation at all speeds (e.g., flash sync speed of up to 1/4000s). This helps capture fast-moving subjects when a flash is used and is also helpful for wide-aperture portraits in strong lighting conditions or outdoors. For cameras with a focal-plane shutter, when using flash, the shutter speed is limited to 1/125s or 1/250s, posing restrictions for creativity. Due to the special design of the leaf shutter, it generates significantly reduced vibration when triggered, efficiently producing quality shots. |
Does the XCD 4/28P lens support full MF? | Yes. Full-time manual focus is always available. Adjust the focus ring at any time, regardless of whether you use AF or MF mode. |
Does the XCD 4/28P lens support customising the control ring? | No. XCD 4/28P does not have a control ring. |
How do I correct lens distortions? | Distortions can be corrected in Phocus or other image-processing software for more accurate optical effects. The camera itself does not support lens correction. |
What is the equivalent focal length of the XCD 4/28P lens? | The equivalent focal length is approximately 22mm. |
What material is the XCD 4/28P lens made of? | The housing is made of metal. |
What is the optical structure of the XCD 4/28P lens? | Nine elements in eight groups, including two aspherical elements and one ED element. |
What focus motor does the XCD 4/28P lens use? | A linear stepping motor. |
What is the focus type of the XCD 4/28P lens? | Internal focusing. |
What is the weight and size of the XCD 4/28P lens? | XCD 4/28P weighs only 245g and measures 75 x 43.5mm, making it the lightest and smallest* lens in the Hasselblad X System. For more details, refer to the datasheet. Note: 1. As of June 2023. |
What is the filter diameter of the XCD 4/28P lens? | XCD 4/28P adopts a filter thread with a diameter of 72mm, which supports installing all types of 72mm-diameter filters. |
What is the ingress protection rating of the XCD 4/28P lens? | IP52. |
