- 3.2″, 2.1M Dot LCD Touchscreen
- 20 Frames Per Second, Continous
Why It Matters To Us…
Even with the glowing reviews, we consider the Leica SL2 an underrated camera. Consider those specs, 47MP, class leading 5.76MP EVF, 20 frames per second continuous drive. There’s a lot of beef there.
What’s equally great about the SL2 is this: Have you ever truly loved the way a mirrorless camera feels? The buttons and ergonomics and menu system? Probably not. Leica gets it right. The SL2 is small, but not too small. It has a minimilist approach to ergonomics and an intuitive menu system.
Don’t let the Leica red dot throw you off. This is not a camera system for elitists, this is an elite camera, and worthy of anyone to seriously consider.
With it’s 4k on full-frame and up to 60fps, the SL2 can perform exceptionally demanding video production tasks. Being separated from the photo-modes also means that that important settings such as ISO, shooting assistants, image style settings, are entirely independent of photo mode. Time consuming settings in sub-menus are avoided – meaning that the camera is correctly configured and ready to shoot at all times.
The improved EyeRes® EVF matches an outstanding 5.76MP panel with an eyepiece built with finest metal and glass and the tightest mechanical and optical tolerances to deliver an unmatched viewing experience, and allow the easiest composition of the image.
The unprecedented resolution of the SL2’s full frame CMOS sensor results in an unparalleled level of detail rendition and image quality. Enormous dynamic range, 14-bit color depth and a sensitivity of up to ISO 50,000 enable outstanding image quality in all lighting conditions. Even when combined with Leica TL lenses, which are designed for the smaller sensor format of the Leica TL2 and CL, the SL2’s sensor still delivers an excellent image resolution of over 20 megapixels.

Leica SL Prime Lenses
As a moderate wide-angle prime, the APO-Summicron-SL 35 f/2 ASPH. is almost a universal lens. Its fast autofocus, robust design and construction and exceptional imaging quality make it an outstanding lens for reportage and a convincing choice for other areas of photography such as architecture, landscapes, portraiture and studio work.
The Summilux-SL 50 f/ 1.4 ASPH. is designed to deliver maximum optical performance and establishes new benchmark standards in terms of sharpness. Thanks to internal focusing, the overall length of the lens remains unchanged when focusing.
The new 50mm lens sets new standards in terms of compactness and performance. Based on innovative technologies, the APO-Summicron-SL 50 f/2 ASPH. leaves nothing to be desired. Brilliance, corner-to-corner micro-contrast, and balanced, harmonious bokeh make the lens a true Leica classic.
The lens consists of ten lenses in seven groups. It holds an aspherical lens-element and a floating element, which guarantee a high image quality to its minimum focusing distance of 0.7m. The lens ensures a superb color correction with its three cemented elements and seven lens-elements with anomalous partial dispersion. Reaching from infinity to its minimum focusing distance the lens offers exceptional imaging performance with high contrasts across the complete focusing range.
High speed and an unmistakably striking rendition of out-of-focus areas make this telephoto lens the first choice for every portrait photographer.
The precision and almost silent action of its autofocus give photographers crucial moments to concentrate fully on the creative aspects of their work and the people in front of their camera.
Leica SL Vario Lenses
Interiors, group portraits, landscapes, and more: This Vario lens expands the options offered by the SL-System into the realm of wide-angle photography and ideally complements the existing portfolio of Vario lenses for the Leica SL.
The Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–90 f/2.8–4 ASPH. is a fast zoom lens with a wide range of focal lengths.
Its close focusing limit of 0.3 meters at its wide-angle setting and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:3.8 at the telephoto end of the range provide fascinating perspectives.
The newly developed double internal focusing system (DSD®) of the high-speed APO-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90–280 f/2.8–4 lens enables extremely fast automatic focusing.
Its range of focal lengths follows on directly from that of the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–90 f/2.8–4 ASPH. Together, these two lenses cover a complete range of focal lengths from 24 to 280 mm.
