The Silo City workshop is a unique learning experience – all attendees will receive advanced training on technical camera systems AND granted access to premier loaner equipment to use during the workshop. The workshop offers a balance of hands-on instruction, location shooting and Capture One Pro training. - Gain exclusive access to one of the oldest grain elevator complexes in the world with the ability to climb and get different views and angles while shooting during all times of the day.
- Capture images of urban decay and architectural monumentality that you will not find anywhere else in the world.
- Visit the Ward Pumping Station, which is one of the largest water treatment facilities in the world, to shoot the rare old rusty pumps and artifacts once used to supply water to Buffalo, NY.
This is the prime opportunity to test drive medium format digital camera systems from Phase One, Mamiya Leaf, ALPA, Cambo and Leica in one workshop at an incredible location full of great photographic opportunities. Get hands-on setup and instruction for a variety of digital camera systems, tripods and portable lighting systems from Chris Snipes – who has over 20 years experience with the best digital cameras in the world.

Hotel, other meals, and any incidental expenses are the responsibility of the attendee. Due to the hazards associated with abandoned industrial sites, registrants will be required to sign a waiver of liability form before being allowed on the Silo City complex.
Lodging
The group will be staying at the Marriott Courtyard Buffalo Downtown. The hotel is just steps from the First Niagara Center and the terminus of the Erie Canal. Self-parking is $10 per day.

Friday May 13
7:00AM – Depart for Silo City Overview and safety instructions for the workshop
- Photograph inside Silos, along canals of Silos, and hike to the top of Silos to get interesting views from above.
- Hands-on instruction of all medium format digital camera systems and technical cameras while shooting.
- Download images on-site into Capture One Pro and get expert advice on adjusting tonal range, color and exposures.

Saturday May 14
7:00AM – Depart for Silo City
- Sunrise Shoot along the river of Silos
- Photograph inside Silos, along canals of Silos, and hike to the top of Silos to get interesting views from above.
- Hands on instruction of all medium format digital camera systems and technical cameras while shooting.
- Download images on-site into Capture One Pro and get expert advice on adjusting tonal range, color and exposures.
12:00PM – Lunch at McCarthy’s (Old First Ward)
1:00-3:30PM – Colonel Ward Pumping Plant
Photography at Colonel Ward Pumping Plant, inside of the pumping areas, on top of the staging areas. Lots of rusty valves, large bolts, vintage pipes, and turbines.
4:00-6:30PM – Concrete Central Elevator
Photograph concrete structures, pillars and columns, and architectural details. Lots of rustic weathered walls, painted areas with graffiti, and long halls. Built between 1915 and 1917, Concrete Central stretches for almost a quarter of a mile along the river and is the largest elevator in Buffalo.
Sunday May 15
7:00AM – Depart for Silo City
